3 people taken to hospital after downtown Winnipeg apartment fire | CBC News
Three people were taken to hospital in stable condition after a fire in a four-storey apartment building on Friday evening in downtown Winnipeg.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a report of a fire in the 200 block of Vaughan Street, near Portage Avenue, at 6:50 p.m.
When they arrived, they evacuated residents who were still inside the apartment from the building, a Friday news release from the city said.
Other residents were able to get out before crews arrived.
Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the building and declared it under control by 7:16 p.m., the city said.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and no damage estimates are available.
Residents whose suites weren’t damaged by the fire and smoke were able to return to their rooms, the city said.
