Border agents seized 1,500 kg of cocaine in Atlantic Canada this year
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized more than 1,500 kilograms of cocaine and hundreds of weapons in the Atlantic region this year.
Officers intercepted 206 weapons and 64 firearms between Jan. 1 and Oct. 31, according to a CBSA news release. They also seized 513 kilograms of cannabis.
Agents recovered 132 stolen vehicles from the ports in Saint John, N.B., and Halifax before they were shipped abroad. Thirty suspected impaired drivers were arrested.
CBSA employs roughly 8,500 workers across 1,200 ports of entry in Canada.
