Boy, 2, dies and two critical after hit-and-run in Smethwick
A two-year-old boy has died and four adults have been injured in a hit-and-run crash involving a stolen car.
The collision, between a Toyota and a grey Porsche Cayenne, took place in Dartmouth Road, Smethwick, in the West Midlands, just before 23:00 GMT on Saturday.
A woman, aged 29, and a 30-year-old man are in a serious condition in hospital, while another man and woman, both 30, are stable.
Detectives said the driver of the Porsche, which had been stolen earlier in December, fled the scene.
Police believe the Porsche was driving away from the roundabout on Kenrick Way, when the crash took place.
The road was closed in both directions while specialist reconstruction staff examined the scene, but has now reopened.
Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I would urge the driver of the Porsche to do the right thing and come and talk to us.
“They made the wrong decision to run away and I’m asking them now to make the right one.”
West Bromwich MP, Sarah Coombes, spoke in Parliament on 27 November about speeding on Kenrick Way.
She said local residents “dread” Friday and Saturday nights.
