A GROUP of brazen workmen filmed themselves utilising the tools at their disposal to cheekily cover a speed camera to save motorists from fines.

The tradesmen, who work for Michael Wood Landscapes, were seemingly on shift by the side of the road in Lancashire earlier this month when they spotted the nearby camera.

Taking it upon themselves to have a swipe at the government’s “stupid arbitrary speed limit”, the group used a makeshift bridge to scramble up onto the camera before using a blue bag to cover the lens and give drivers free rein.

Video shows the group of landscapers gathered around the camera, with one bloke standing on a hill bringing him to eye level with the camera.

A GROUP of brazen workmen filmed themselves utilising the tools at their disposal to cheekily cover a speed camera to save motorists from fines.

Another man stands below next to the camera seemingly keeping an eye out for any trouble.

The men wobble a plank of wood into place, balancing it onto the pole of the camera as a makeshift bridge whilst his workmate comments: “Traffic cam watch, we’re not having it.”

Working together the four men position the plank of wood while one of them comments: “Traffic cam watch, we’re not having it.”

Another of the tradesmen then climbs onto the makeshift bridge and begins walking along it towards the speed camera, getting shouts of encouragement from his pals as he does.

Dressed in work shorts and a blue t-shirt, the landscaper carries a large blue bag with him as he approaches the camera.

He is encouraged with shouts of, “Go on, go on walk the plank” as he shuffles along the plank of wood.

Coming within reach of the camera he prepares his tarpaulin bag and positions it over the traffic control camera, covering the lens with the plastic sheet.

His pals laugh and giggle amongst themselves, pleased with their ingenious method of disabling the speed camera.

The footage was shared to social media on Friday with the caption: “Look at all that litter.

“The state is more concerned with punishing drivers for breaking some stupid arbitrary speed limit than actually making our environment nicer.”

It has since received dozens of likes and comments from social media users who found the tradies’ anti-speed camera antics hilarious.

One user wrote: “Look at these good Samaritans right here.”

Another commented: “Revenue is more important to governments unfortunately. I imagine the speed violation fines are pricey.”

A third joked: “Those lads will flip when they’ve heard ladders have been invented.”

Another said: “Rinsing the population is the priority.”

A fifth added: “Death penalty for these people, endanger people and enable speeder, instant death penalty.”
