Britney Spears reunites with son Jayden, 18, after two years apart: ‘Best Christmas of my life’
Britney Spears had a special reunion with her youngest son Jayden James, 18, on Christmas.
The pop star, 43, shared a video of the mother-son duo celebrating the holiday and said she hasn’t seen Jayden in “two years.”
In the video, Jayden said “hello” to the camera while standing next to his famous mom, who kissed Jayden on the cheek and called him her “baby.”
The clip then cut to the pair standing in front of a fireplace and saying “Merry Christmas.” Spears had on a festive red dress.
“Best Christmas of my life !!!,” Spears wrote in her caption. “I haven’t seen my boys in 2 years !!!”
“Tears of joy and literally in shock everyday koo koo crazy so in love and blessed !!!,” she added. “I’m speechless thank you Jesus !!!”
Spears’ other son, 19-year-old Sean Preston, did not appear in the video.
The “Toxic” singer shares her two kids with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. The former couple were married for three years before Spears filed for divorce in 2006.
Last year, Federline, 46, and his boys moved to Hawaii. He’s had full custody of Preston and Jayden since 2008.
TMZ reported in May 2023 that there were “occasional texts” between Spears and her sons, who distanced themselves from their mom because of her nude Instagram posts.
Preston and Jayden did not go to Spears’ 2022 wedding to Sam Asghari.
Three months after the nuptials, Jayden, 15, spoke about his emotions toward his mom in an interview with the Daily Mail.
“I think Mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love and I don’t think she showed enough to Preston and I feel really bad for that,” the teenager said. “We’ve both been through so much pressure in the past that this is our safe place now, to process all the emotional trauma we’ve been through to heal, heal our mental state. If I complained, she went after [my brother]. I feel guilty, so I am there for him. Mom has treated me better.”
Spears later responded to Jayden’s comments on Instagram, writing, “I say to my son Jayden that I send all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life.”
“My love for my children has no boundaries and it deeply saddens me to know his outcry of saying I wasn’t up to his expectations of a mother …. and maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly!” the singer added.
