Celebrity exes risk awkward reunion after signing up for the same show
A pair of celebrity exes who dated several years ago could be in for an awkward run-in after they both signed up for the same TV series.
It’s been announced that an animated show called Badjelly – based on the story written by Spike Milligan and published in the 1970s – is currently in the works.
The titular character is being played by the legend that is Miriam Margolyes, who will take on the role of voicing the ‘wickedest witch in the world’.
Elsewhere, the cast is set to include people including Jo Brand, Richard O’Brien and Colin Hoult… as well as comedians Rose Matafeo and James Acaster, British Comedy Guide reported.
However, almost a decade ago, Rose, 32, and James, 39, were an item.
The former moved from her native New Zealand to London in 2015, where her boyfriend was living. They reportedly broke up two years later.

While it might seem as though there could be awkwardness if they end up reuniting while working on Badjelly, it appears that the exes have been on good terms since their split.
In 2019, Starstruck creator and star Rose appeared on James’ TV show, Hypothetical.
During the episode, James and Rose acted out a skit where they sat together at a table to pretend as though they were going for dinner – and everything seemed hunky dory!
In 2022, Rose revealed in an interview that she’d discourage anyone from dating comedians.
‘I’ve been on record as saying no-one should ever go out with a comedian – including myself – I wouldn’t recommend it,’ she told RNZ.
‘No – I think comedians are great, but I think there are a lot of relationships where you meet because you are doing the same thing, and it’s the equivalent of meeting someone in the office and hitting it off – but I think for me maybe I should branch out.’
Meanwhile, James has spoken out in the past about how a different ex of his broke up with him… only to find out that she left him for Rowan Atkinson.
‘I got left for Mr Bean,’ he previously said, LadBible reported.
‘I found out a year after we split up. I opened the newspaper and there was a full-page story.
‘No one else in the history of time has ever been left for Mr Bean.’
