Ananya Panday has garnered much love from fans and the industry for her recent release CTRL. The film director Vikramaditya Motwane recently revealed that the film was supposed to have an alternate ending according to the early drafts of the film. However, the makers decided to go with the current ending as they want it to be experienced on the small screen.

In an interview, Motwane told Hindustan Times, that after they realized changing the ending wouldn’t align with the story and the viewers, they quickly dropped the idea. He was quoted saying, “That’s the moment we realised, why would anyone in that right mind stream this or shoot this, what would be the screenlife element? So very quickly, that went out of the window. It has to be organic to the story,” he says.

Talking about the alternate ending, he added, “The writing process gives you such a headache because you have to compute all the possibilities.” He added that initially they intended for Ananya’s character Nella to seek revenge but ultimately felt it didn’t fit the narrative.

He was also asked about the posibility of a sequel, about maybe Nella returning for revenge. The director explain it may not happen. He said, “Maybe. I don’t know. I don’t buy into a sequel. I think in Nella’s case, she’s doomed. She’s gone down that rabbit hole again.” Vikramaditya called the film a cautionary tale instead of extending it into a revenge saga.

Streaming on Netflix, the film follows Nella, a social media influencer who finds out her public boyfriend cheated on her. After losing the fanship, she decides to erase him from her life, and digitally with the help of an AI app. But soon loses herself and more in the process.
