Much like the majority of Tuesday’s night’s utterly slipshod performance, one that had been in the planning for 18 months, the last thing Irish supporters should expect from the subsequent fall-out is any sense of clarity.
Eileen Gleeson’s contract expired when the Spanish referee’s whistle confirmed the final breath of Ireland’s doomed qualification campaign for Euro 2025. That much, at least, is very clear.
