Deadly crash in Rutland County under investigation
MENDON, Vt. (NEWS10) — Vermont State Police reported that one person died in a single-vehicle crash in Mendon on Wednesday morning. The crash took place on Wheelerville Road just after 8 a.m.
The initial investigation determined that a Nissan Titan heading south on Wheelerville Road reportedly shifted out of lane and drove off the roadway. The car then descended an embankment and collided with a tree.
The driver, identified as Christopher Black, 42, of West Rutland, was declared dead at the scene. Black was the car’s only occupant.
The Rutland Regional Ambulance Service and the Rutland City Fire Department assisted Vermont State Police at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
