Get set to shine in these dazzling holiday looks
What says “It’s party time!” more than a stunning holiday dress?
We’re talking about the quintessential, iconic holiday looks that let everyone know it’s time to celebrate. Check out these stunners and snap them up while you can — just in time for holiday office parties, fancy nights out, Christmas concerts, cocktail shindigs, and of course, New Year’s Eve. And since they’re all classic to the core, you can bet you’ll be wearing them for holiday seasons to come.
In The Red: Don’t we all need a vibrant crimson look for holiday? The Red Shimmer V-Neck Angelina Gown ($188 on tnuck.com) from Hyacinth House isn’t actually a “gown” per se — more of an A-line maxi dress. It’s still fitted enough to be sexy, and festive without trying too hard. (It’s also incredibly comfy, even after hours of partying.)
Emerald City: In my humble opinion, deep, beautiful green is underrated every holiday season. Well, not in The Pleated Midi Dress ($75 on bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com). The sleeveless and crew-neck, very fitted waist and flounce-hemmed frock is a sight to behold. And the seasonally gorgeous hue just makes it all the more irresistible.
Fresh Tartan: No, you don’t have to look like a child these days if you find the right pretty plaid holiday dress. Plenty of sophisticated options abound. For example: The Check Slip Midi-Dress ($598 on saksfifthavenue.com) from Polo Ralph Lauren. With spaghetti straps and an ultra-flattering pullover cut, what could be an easier or more modern take on plaid?
Back in Black: There are, of course, a million little black dresses out there. But if you’re going to go for the LBD, then go big or don’t bother going out at all. I love Proenza Schouler’s Cora Dress ($1,690 on gretta.co) — so much that I decided to sell it at my own boutique. I can’t get over the classically flattering lines of its slim ankle-length silhouette, or how it envelops the body while making the wearer feel stunning.
The Luxe Tux: Command the evening, wherever you are, in the Ray Utility Tuxedo Jumpsuit by Reiss ($390 on bloomingdales.com). If the notch collar doesn’t let everyone in the room know you’re in charge, then the cut of the belted waist and wide cut of the legs will seal the deal.
Sparkle Joy: On New Year’s Eve, it’s time to pull out the big guns. For example: The Hutch Long-Sleeve Scoop-Neck Sequin Midi Dress ($198 on anthropologie.com). Maybe your look is silver-based (as this lovely A-line frock is), or maybe it’s gold? Maybe it’s all sequin, or pure mesh. All I recommend is this: Don’t shy away from the shine.
