Groom reveals wife’s last words before drunk driver killed her on wedding night

A husband whose wife was killed by a drunk driver on the night of their wedding has revealed her heartbreaking last words before she lost her life.

Aric Hutchinson sobbed in court as he recounted what the bride, Samantha Miller, 34, said to him moments before their golf cart was struck by a reckless driver.

‘On the golf cart, she told me she didn’t want the night to end,’ said Hutchinson.

‘And I kissed her on the forehead and then the next thing I remember is waking up in the hospital.’

Miller was still wearing her wedding dress when Jamie Lee Komoroski, 27, plowed into their golf cart on a Folly Beach road going at 65mph.

Komoroski pleaded guilty to felony DUI causing death, reckless homicide and two counts of felony DUI causing great bodily injury. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Monday for the April 2023 crash in South Carolina.

She said she was ‘devastated, deeply ashamed and sorry’ for the bad decisions and her actions.

‘I wish I could go back and undo this terrible tragedy. But I cannot,’ said Komoroski.

‘I will live the rest of my life with intense regret for what happened that night.’

The newlyweds were hit by the drunk driver as they returned from a beachfront wedding reception. Miller was thrown from the golf cart while Hutchinson and two of his family members also inside survived.

Hutchinson suffered a brain injury and broken bones.

He filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Komoroski in May 2023.

Hutchinson detailed his visits to doctors and physical therapists and dealing with mental pain.

”I wish I had died that night,’ he said.

‘I wish I had seen it coming. I’d have jumped off the golf cart so you would only have run me over.’

Miller’s father before Komoroski’s sentencing said her apologies would fall on his deaf ears.

‘The rest of my life I’m going to hate you and when I arrive in hell and you come there, I will open the door for you,’ said Brad Warner.

‘You have ruined so many people’s lives.’

Komoroski vowed to dedicate her life to warning others against drunk driving and helping addicts change their lifestyle.
