A Hamilton woman, 25, faces multiple criminal charges after police say she struck another woman in the face with the butt of a shotgun.

Hamilton police arrested the woman and charged her with crimes including unauthorized possession of a firearm and assault with a weapon, they said in a Dec. 4 news release.

The woman who was hit in the face had “minor injuries,” they said.

The attack occurred earlier that morning, police said. They responded to a call about a disturbance at a business near Main Street E., and Wentworth Street.

When police arrived, they say they found the alleged attacker trying to leave in a taxi and arrested her. Police said they found a loaded shotgun in the trunk of the cab.
