Specially trained officers have been out talking to members of the public at the Christmas market in Parliament Street as well as St Helen’s Square and Duncombe Place close to York Minster as part of Project Servator or ‘unpredictable policing’ which launched in North Yorkshire six years ago.

A police spokesman said: “Lovely to speak to so many people at York Christmas market.

“Our specially trained Project Servator Officers, will continue to pop up around North Yorkshire over the Christmas period.

“Please help us keep you safe, by remaining vigilant and reporting anything suspicious.

“We use a range of policing tactics to help keep everyone safe including officers in plain clothes.”
