Highway 402 reopens as OPP investigate ‘sudden death’ of 71-year-old | CBC News
A sudden death investigation that began with a missing person report is underway north of Watford, Ont., provincial police announced Monday.
A 71-year-old man, who was reported missing earlier in the day by OPP on social media, was found dead near Highway 402, prompting the closure of the highway in both directions between Nauvoo and Forest roads.
The affected stretch of highway was closed for several hours, but reopened just after 4 p.m., police said.
The social media post shared by police earlier in the day said the man was last seen near the 402 exit at Nauvoo Road on Sunday.
It’s unclear exactly when the man was found, however police first announced the highway closure in the late morning.
Police said it’s too early to say if the death is being treated as suspicious.
