Hit Channel 4 show with famous rapper host returns – and YOU can take part
A HIT Channel 4 show with famous rapper host is returning after two series and producers are looking for viewers to take part in the show.
The property show follows homeowners as they unleash their inner architect and build beautiful, often radical and unusual home extensions.
Tinie Tempah is probably best known as a British rapper and singer.
He has had seven number one singles in the UK, including huge hits Pass Out, Written in the Stars and Not Letting Go,
During his career, he has collaborated with a number of super stars including Emeli Sande, Kelly Rowland, Usher, Ellie Goulding, and Jess Glynne.
But he grew up in humble beginnings in the Aylesbury Estate in South London with his parents and three younger siblings.
“Growing up in a very working-class family, property was a way that we were able to move up the socio-economic ladder.
“I came out of a council estate environment and, at 12, my parents bought our first property in Plumstead.
“Fast forward a couple of years, and they’ve got more than a handful.
“I grew up seeing my mum do loads of extensions,” he told The Independent.
He now has his own impressive property portfolio and as the host of the successful Channel 4 series Extraordinary Extensions, it’s a passion he shares with viewers.
In the previous two seasons Tinie Tinie followed brave homeowners as they built extraordinary and awe-inspiring extensions.
They ranged from floating terracotta pods, glass boxes and beach houses to high tech family extensions.
Now Tinie’s set to do it all over again with a new third season coming out soon and you can apply to appear on the show.
The team are re-opening casting once again to find property owners who are making adventurous changes to their homes to appear in the returning eight-part series.
Tinie says: “I’m excited to be collaborating with Channel 4 and Avalon on a supersized third series.
5 Tips to Get on The Property Ladder
Saving for your first property is tough, but it is possible. Here are a few steps for first-time buyers.
1. Cut back on luxuries and start saving
Consistent monthly saving is the best way to accumulate enough money to get on the ladder, for a deposit and purchase fees. To do this, you need to take a look at your monthly outgoings and think about what can be cut out – holidays, new clothes, weekly takeaway.
Using a savings calculator can help you to establish how long you will need to save for a deposit. Based on your income, you can figure out a realistic amount to save each month.
2. Have a realistic property search
Set a budget for the property price you would like to buy, and think realistically about the location and size of your property. While we all may want that house with a view or extra bedroom, can you afford it?
3. Research Help To Buy and Shared Ownership schemes
The government has introduced a few ways to help first-time-buyers get on the property ladder and they’re great for those on lower incomes or to buy a property in more expensive areas like London.
4. Consider buying with another person
Investing with somebody else you know is a sure way to get onto the property ladder. You only need to save half the amount you would otherwise, so you can work towards getting your property sooner.
You can invest with a friend, family or partner. Naturally, it is a big step and a huge commitment so be open and honest about what you expect from living together — if you haven’t already.
5. Talk to a mortgage broker and get your documents in order
A mortgage broker can tell you exactly how much you can borrow for a mortgage, what you will need to pay monthly and in upfront costs.
“I can’t wait to discover how far this year’s creative, radical and adventurous homeowners are going to go to make their extensions extraordinary.”
Avalon’s Jamie Isaacs comments: “We are excited to be partnering with Tinie and Channel 4 on another series of Extraordinary Extensions and look forward to bringing a new raft of daring designs to the Channel 4 audience.”
To apply, viewers can email extensions@avalonuk.com with the following information; your name, a short description of the build, start and end date, approximate budget.
