Unveiled by the Prime Minister, this plan outlines six key milestones to bring about ‘measurable change’ by the end of this parliamentary term.

The areas of focus include housebuilding, the economy, the NHS, clean power, education, and crime.

The Plan for Change aims to ‘rebuild Britain’ after what it describes as 14 years of ‘managed decline’ under the Conservatives.

It is founded on principles of sound public finances and secure borders.

The plan addresses everyday issues affecting the public, including the 451,381 NHS waiting list across Greater Manchester.

This will be tackled with the introduction of 40,000 additional NHS operations and investment in ‘state-of-the-art’ hospital equipment.

The plan also targets the growing concern over knife crime and robbery, which the Labour Government attributes to the Conservative’s decision to reduce the number of neighbourhood police officers.

The Plan for Change will see the introduction of 13,000 more officers, PCSOs, and special constables in neighbourhood roles, with a named officer in each community.

The Labour Government also aims to ‘improve life chances’ for all children by boosting the number of children starting school ready to learn.

Currently, around 64 per cent of children in Greater Manchester meet key early years development targets.

Labour aims to increase this figure to 75 per cent by the end of the parliamentary term.

He saids everal ‘landmark changes’ have already been implemented as part of the Plan for Change.

These include a pay rise for three million workers through an increase in the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage, benefitting 7,700 workers in Bolton.

There is also funding for 40,000 additional NHS operations and investment in scanners and diagnostic equipment.

The plan includes over £5 billion investment in housing supply, funding to transform neglected land into new homes, and a commitment to protecting the green belt.

The introduction of Great British Energy will provide ‘clean, secure, and homegrown power.’

Finally, the first stage of the rollout of free Breakfast Clubs for primary school children has also been launched, with funding for up to 300 school-based nurseries.

Mr Brickell said: “This government was elected to deliver change.

“After 14 years of broken promises, people doubt – understandably – that politics can make a difference to their lives.

“That’s why we’re doing things differently.

“Our first priority has always been to restore the foundations of national security, economic stability, and secure borders, reducing both legal and illegal migration.

“We live in an unstable world and these strong foundations will anchor us so we can weather future storms, rather than jump from crisis to crisis as we did during the Tory years.”

Mr Brickell also outlined the government’s five national missions, which ‘align with the priorities of the people of Bolton West.’

He said: “These are economic growth, an NHS fit for the future, safer streets, tackling the cost of living by improving our energy security, putting an end to skyrocketing bills, and making sure every child has the opportunities they deserve.”
