It’s been a busy season for road work in Hamilton, and more is on the way. Locke Street North will be closed both ways at York Boulevard starting Nov. 28.

The closure will last through to Dec. 3 at 7 a.m., the city said in a Nov. 25 news release. Work will include rebuilding part of the road at the intersection.

During the closure, westbound traffic on Barton Street West will be re-directed to Queen Street North, the city said, adding workers will post a sign at the intersection of Barton Street West and Queen Street North, indicating only local traffic can go westbound.

The city said Dundurn Park will remain accessible, and there will be no impact on Go Transit or the Hamilton Street Railway.

Since July, York Boulevard has been under construction from Dundurn Street North and Caroline Street, as part of a larger project including bike lanes and watermain installation, which is also affecting Cannon Street West  between Queen Street North and James Street North.

When that project started, the city said it would end in December and resume in April.

On Wednesday local food delivery business Mrktbox shared a video on Instagram saying the road work has been hard on their business and on the Strathcona Market. They shared alternate directions people can use to get to the market this weekend, and said they’ll be hosting a pizza party and holiday disco.
