Machine gun seized at home of San Jose hit-and-run suspect
(KRON) — A machine gun was seized as part of a substantial arsenal found at the home of a suspect who allegedly brandished a firearm during a hit-and-run incident, according to police. Officers with the San Jose Police Department responded on Oct. 6 at around 12:15 p.m. to a report of a hit-and-run in the area of Bernal Road and San Ignacio Avenue.
Arriving at the scene, officers discovered that the suspect, an adult male, was involved in a crash with a victim, also an adult male. The victim, police said, was in his vehicle with his wife and one-year-old child at the time.
When the victim attempted to get the suspect’s contact information, police said the suspect brandished a firearm at him and fled the scene prior to SJPD’s arrival. Police were able to identify the suspect as Timothy Headman, 48, of San Jose.
Detectives with the SJPD Assaults Unit began an investigation and got a search warrant for Headman’s residence. The following day, on Oct. 7, patrol officers spotted Headman’s vehicle and conducted a traffic enforcement stop.
Officers took him into custody and found a rifle magazine and ammunition on his person. Assaults Unit Detectives, along with Special Operations Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET) and Metro Unit, executed a search warrant at Headman’s residence.
At the residence, detectives seized multiple firearms, including a machine gun. Police also said a short-barreled rifle, miscellaneous firearms and various amounts of ammunition were also seized.
Headman was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for criminal threats, brandishing a firearm, hit and run, and various felony firearm charges.
