Man (20s) to appear in court charged over death of pensioner in Balbriggan
A man in his twenties arrested in connection with the murder of a pensioner in Tobersool in Balbriggan in Co Dublin is set to appear before Dublin District Court this morning.
Gardaí in Balbriggan have been investigating the circumstances around the death of Scott George, an academic and married father with adult children.
Mr George, who was in his seventies, was found dead at his two storey home in Balbriggan at around 11.20pm on Thursday.
Emergency services pronounced Mr George dead at the scene. Another man who was present was arrested for questioning in relation to the fatal attack.
A postmortem examination was carried out and the scene was preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
A senior investigating officer was appointed to lead the inquiry and an incident room was set up in Balbriggan Garda station.
