Man caught after dealing drugs ‘directly in front of CCTV camera’ police say

The 30-year-old was arrested earlier this week on Thursday September 26 in Wigan town centre after officers say that he was selling Class A and B drugs “directly in front” of a CCTV camera.

Officers gave chased, arrested the man shortly afterward and later say they found more than £1000 at him home.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 1pm on Thursday September 26, a council CCTV operative observed a male dealing class A and B substances in Wigan Town Centre.

“This was being done in plain sight and directly in front of a high-definition CCTV camera, which is one of many located in Wigan Town Centre.

“Following this observation, officers from the Town Centre Neighbourhood Team were directed to the area.

“Following a short foot chase and with the support of the Neighbourhood Tasking Team, we were able to detain a 30-year-old male.

“A positive stop search was conducted and found in his possession were numerous wraps containing what we believe to be class A and class B substances.

“Money in excess of £1000 was also recovered from the male’s address.”
