Sussex Police are continuing to investigate after a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being found in St Catherine’s Road in Littlehampton on December 12.
The force has now said the 48-year-old man may have been assaulted in the street.
The man, from Bognor, remains in hospital following the alleged attack.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said they were called to St Catherine’s Road at around 5.30pm on December 12 where the man was found with serious injuries.
The force added: “An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
“Witnesses or anyone with any information, or dash cam or doorbell footage, is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 994 of 12/12.”
