Why are we so riveted by the American presidential election? Yes, American leadership is a matter of great consequence for the world, and this election is deemed particularly significant.
But there’s another factor, in my view. It’s the drama. The theatre. The personalities. Even the extremes. The whole campaign is bursting with hostilities, invective, divisiveness – and people don’t hold back with their insults.
