NYSP issue thousands of tickets, arrest over 200 for DWI over Thanksgiving holiday
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The New York State Police released the number of tickets that were issued and arrests that were made over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Thanksgiving enforcement period ran from Saturday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Dec. 1.
Over the weeklong campaign, police issued 24,191 tickets statewide and made 251 arrests for DWI. Police also investigated 1,259 crashes. Three of the crashes were fatal.
Troopers also targeted speeding and aggressive drivers during the Thanksgiving enforcement. Across the state, 4,338 tickets were issued for speeding; 371 tickets for distracted driving; 2,520 for seatbelt violations; and 242 tickets for violations of the Move Over Law.

The statewide numbers for 2024 increased over the previous year. During the 2023 Thanksgiving enforcement campaign, 18,690 total tickets were issued and 178 people were arrested for DWI.
