Oakland man arrested for February fatal shooting
(KRON) – An Oakland man was charged with fatally shooting Jennifer Kelly Jordan and the attempted murder of a man at a San Leandro Liquor store earlier this year, District Attorney Pamela Price’s office announced Friday.
On Feb. 9, 2024, Leo Deshon Evans shot Jordan and another man following an argument outside of a San Leandro Liquor store, according to the district attorney’s office. Both suspects were taken to the hospital after police responded. Jordan, 41, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the district attorney’s office, authorities identified 44-year-old Evans as the suspect.
Evans was arrested on Oct. 31 at his Oakland residence. He is charged with one count of murder and one count of willful, deliberate, premeditated attempted murder with added gun enhancements for both charges.
According to the DA’s office, Evans is scheduled to appear in court for a plea hearing on Nov. 19. He is facing up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
