Emergency crews and provincial environment officials are at the scene of an oil truck rollover on the Winsloe Road, just outside of Charlottetown, Monday morning.

The road was closed to all traffic between Route 250, the Kentyre Road, and Route 220, the Horne Cross Road, according to a P.E.I. RCMP social media post just after 6:30 a.m. As of 9 a.m., some local traffic was being let through so residents could get to their homes.

RCMP said the driver had been trapped in the truck, but there were no updates on injuries. Police also said there is some oil leaking from the vehicle.

The single-vehicle crash happened at the bottom of a steep hill in an area where some residents told CBC News there are often accidents after a snowfall.

The North River Fire Department, Island EMS and officials with the P.E.I.’s environment and highways departments are also at the scene.
