The incident happened just after 7:30am this morning between junctions 57 and 58.
The crash involved two vehicles and one person was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital from the scene.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call at 7.32am this morning (Thursday 5 December) to report a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A1M between junctions 57 and 58.
“One ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Darlington Memorial Hospital.”
