Over fifty Israeli soldiers killed so far in October
TEL AVIV, Israel – Over fifty Israeli soldiers, including 7 teenagers, have died so far this month, taking the IDF death toll since the Hamas-led attacks of October 7 last year to 770.
301 of those troops died on October 7 2023.
Following are the names of those who have fallen in October, on the dates news of their deaths were announced:
October 27th
The IDF confirmed the deaths of Captain (Res.) Amit Hayut, a native of Haifa, and Sergeant Major (Res.) Gilad Elmaliah from Jerusalem’s Ramot neighborhood. Both soldiers fell in battle in southern Lebanon. Rabbi Avi Goldberg, a captain in the reserves and educator at the Himmelfarb yeshiva high school in Jerusalem, was also killed in the same conflict.
Later that morning, the IDF announced the death of Malachi Yehuda Harari from Even Shmuel, who succumbed to injuries sustained in combat in the Gaza Strip.
October 26th
The IDF announced the death of Captain Eliav Abitbul during combat in southern Lebanon.
October 25th
Major (Res.) Dan Maori, Captain (Res.) Alon Safrai, Warrant Officers (Res.) Omri Lotan and Guy Idan, and Master Sergeant (Res.) Tom Segal lost their lives in southern Lebanon.
Additionally, three soldiers from the 196th Battalion’s Tank Commanders Course, 460th Brigade, were killed in action in Gaza. Captain Barak Israel Sagan, aged 22, from Petah Tikva, Sergeant Ido Ben Zvi, aged 21, from Shomrat, and Sergeant Hillel Ovadia, aged 22, from Jerusalem, were among the fallen.
October 24th
Command Sergeant Major (Res.) Mordechai Haim Amoyal, Sergeant Major (Res.) Shmuel Harari, Master Sergeant (Res.) Shlomo Aviad Nayman, and Sergeant First Class (Res.) Shuvael Ben-Natan were killed in action in southern Lebanon.
October 22nd
The IDF reported that Staff Sergeant Yishai Mann, aged 21, from Mitzpe Yericho, died in an accident near Gaza. Later that day, the military cleared for publication the death of Master Sergeant (Res.) Saar Eliad Navarsky, aged 27, from Tel Aviv-Yafo, who fell in combat in the north.
In Lebanon, Major (Res.) Rabbi Aviram Hariv, a resident of Dolev and rabbi at the local high school, also lost his life during battle.
October 20th
Colonel Ehsan Daxa, commander of the 401st “Iron Tracks” Brigade, was killed in Jabaliya during combat in Gaza, becoming the sixth IDF colonel to fall since the conflict began on October 7th, 2023.
October 19th
Sergeant Major (Res.) Yishai Greenbaum, aged 38, from Lod, died from injuries sustained earlier in Lebanon. Staff Sergeant Ofir Berkovich, aged 20, from Modi’in-Maccabim-Re’ut, and Sergeant Elishai Young, aged 19, from Dimona, fell during combat in northern Gaza.
October 17th
The IDF announced that five soldiers from the Golani Reconnaissance Unit were killed in southern Lebanon:
- Major Ofek Bachar (24), Ness Ziona
- Captain Elad Siman Tov (23), Tzofim
- Staff Sergeant Elyashiv Eitan Wieder (22), Jerusalem
- Staff Sergeant Yakov Hillel (21), Jerusalem
- Staff Sergeant Yehudah Dror Yahalom (21), Hebron
October 14th
The IDF reported that Sergeant Koren Bitan, aged 19, from Rosh Ha’ayin, serving in the Bislamach Brigade, fell during combat in the southern Gaza Strip.
October 13th
Four trainees at the Golani Training Base were killed when a Hezbollah drone struck the dining hall:
- Sergeant Alon Amitay (19), Ramot Naftali
- Sergeant Omri Tamari (19), Mazkeret Batya
- Sergeant Yosef Hieb (19), Tuba-Zangariyye
- Sergeant Yoav Agmon (19), Binyamina
October 11th
Staff Sergeant Ittai Fogel, aged 22, from Yakir, a tank commander in the 46th Battalion, 401st Brigade, fell during combat in southern Gaza.
October 10th
Sergeant Major (Res.) Ronny Ganizate, aged 36, from Giv’at Shmuel, was killed in southern Lebanon. Four additional soldiers fell in northern Gaza:
- Master Sergeant Ori Moshe Borenstein (32), Moreshet
- Major Netanel Hershkovitz (37), Jerusalem
- Master Sergeant Matityahu Marantz Tzvi (32), Bnei Adam
October 8th – 7th
Staff Sergeant Noam Israel Abdu, aged 20, from Kadima Zoran, fell during combat in northern Gaza. Master Sergeant Etay Azulay, aged 25, from Oranit, was killed on the Lebanese border. In the same incident, Command Sergeant Major (Res.) Aviv Magen, aged 43, from Herut, succumbed to his injuries.
October 6th
Sergeant First Class (Res.) Nir Hadad, aged 28, from Petah Tikva, passed away from injuries sustained earlier in combat in northern Gaza.
October 4th
A UAV strike launched from Iraq killed Sergeant Daniel Aviv Haim Sofer, aged 19, from Ashkelon, and Corporal Tal Dror, aged 19, from Jerusalem, in northern Israel.
October 3rd
Captain Ben Zion Falach, aged 21, from Nitzanei Oz, fell in southern Lebanon.
October 2nd
Eight soldiers fell in southern Lebanon:

- Captain Itai Ariel Giat (23), Shoham
- Sergeant First Class Noam Barzilay (22), Kokhav Ya’ir Tzur Yigal
- Sergeant First Class Or Mantzur (21), Beit Aryeh-Ofarim
- Sergeant First Class Nazaar Itkin (21), Kiryat Ata
- Staff Sergeant Almken Terefe (21), Jerusalem
- Staff Sergeant Ido Broyer (21), Ness Ziona
- Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster (22), Modi’in-Maccabim-Re’ut
According to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, another 2,369 soldiers have been wounded since October 7 last year, 453 of them seriously. As of Saturday, 291 remained hospitalized, forty-two of them in serious condition.
The IDF on Sunday extended its deepest condolences to the families of all the fallen soldiers and expressed solidarity with those wounded in combat.
