Pedestrian in hospital with life-threatening injuries after Moncton parking lot collision | CBC News

A woman is facing life-threatening injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle in a Moncton, N.B., parking lot on Tuesday morning.

First responders attended the scene at a commercial parking lot at 1380 Mountain Rd. shortly after 11 a.m. AT.

“When when we arrived on scene, there was indeed a car that had a person underneath it,” said Platoon Chief Brian McDonald of the Moncton Fire Department.

“The circumstances of how that occurred — they’re not clear.”

McDonald said airbags and hydraulic tools were needed to lift the SUV up and reach the injured woman.

The woman was treated by paramedics, but taken to hospital immediately, said McDonald.

Codiac RCMP Sgt. Joel Arsenault said it’s unclear if charges will be laid against the driver.

“We do not believe speed or alcohol was a factor,” he said.

Arsenault described the pedestrian’s injuries as life-threatening.

No further details about the victim or the driver were provided.
