Police searching for armed suspect in University Park; residents advised to stay indoors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – Police in University Park are asking residents to stay inside as they search for an armed suspect.

Police said the department received a call at around noon Friday from another police department saying a suspect fled to an area in the 700 block of Red Oak Drive and barricaded themselves inside a building.

University Park police officers and other agencies were sent to the area, as well as a SWAT team.

No other information was released.
