The power cut was affecting 493 homes across 64 post codes, between Wigginton and Sutton-on-the-Forest and in the Linton-on-Ouse area, at 12.30pm today (Saturday, December 7).

But by 2.30pm, Northern Powergrid said power had been restored.

“All customers should now have their power back on but turn on a light or appliance to make sure,” a spokesperson said.

Anyone still without power is asked to call Northern Powergrid on 105.

Louise Lowes, the company’s director of customer service, previously said: “We’ll do our best to support you and get your power back on as soon as we can.”

The power cut came as a yellow warning for wind and rain was issued until Sunday due to the arrival of Storm Darragh.

The Met Office warns that power cuts “may occur” while the warning is in place, “with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage”.
