Robert G. Matheny II sworn in as Harrison County Sheriff
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Officer Robert G. Matheny II was officially sworn in as the new Harrison County Sheriff on Monday. He will be replacing his father, who served for two terms.
The ceremony was overseen by Judge McCarthy, who also swore in a number of other members of the Sheriff’s Office, including deputies, tax officials, and administrative officials.

“My plans for this term are to, like I said, continue the programs and policies that are in effect, continue the transparency with the public, and really just serve as an advocate for Harrison County,” Matheny II said.
Sheriff Matheny told 12 News that upon taking up the Sheriff’s Office, his father told him that it was “a well-oiled machine.” Matheny II previously served as the Stonewood Chief of Police in 2023.
