SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — It had already been an eventful 24 hours for Bradley Bullock when he grabbed a few California Lottery Scratchers from a 7-Eleven in San Diego County.
Bullock went to the 7-Eleven on Prospect Avenue in Santee for a “little caffeine pick-me-up” after waking up feeling sluggish. The night before, he won $2,000 on a slot machine at a local casino.
He grabbed an energy drink and a couple of Scratchers games, then headed home to relax on his day off from work.
At first, Bullock says he completely forgot he had even purchased the two games, including a Royal Riches ticket. When he remembered, the San Diegan began removing the scratch-off ink, setting up the shock of his life: He won the Royal Riches top prize of $10 million.
“I knew I’d won before I even scratched it because I scanned the barcode with the Lottery app,” Bullock said in a press release from the California Lottery on his incredible story. “So, I scratched to see if it was real!”
He ultimately opted to receive the lump-sum cash payout of $5.8 million. However, it was only the start of a multi-day lucky streak for Bullock.
“The very next night, a buddy of mine was doing a staycation back at the casino, and we ended up combining to win twenty-nine grand! Three days of wild luck,” he added.
Bullock was one of a few people across California who have won big on Scratchers over the last few months, according to lotto officials.
Two $1 million prizes through the Power 10’s Scratchers game were picked up at convenience stores in Huntington Park and Escondido. Ice Cool scratchers also yielded $1 million jackpots for Tracy, Riverside and Norwalk residents.
Although the luckiest appears to have been the Multiplier Craze scratch-off ticket, with four people hitting it big with the $1 million prize over the last few months.
Lottery officials say new Scratchers games are released every month. Want to test your luck where others have found success? Find a lucky lottery retailer, or a store who has sold a winning ticket with a big prize, on the California lottery’s website.
Good luck, California! May the lotto odds be in your favor.
