Scots gran scoops £100k at bingo & shares winnings with lifelong pal of 50 years
A SCOTS gran who scooped a jackpot of £100,000 at bingo has shared her huge winnings with her lifelong pal of 50 years.
Maureen Russell, 65, struck gold at Club 3000 Bingo in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, during the inaugural Millionaire Night event on Sunday, September 29.
The gran-of-one from Airdrie has been a regular at the bingo hall since it opened in 2006.
Maureen claimed victory with a full house during a special link game, connecting all 24 Club 3000 bingo halls across the country, Lanarkshire Live reports.
And she kept up her tradition of splitting her winnings with her closest pal of 50 years.
Maureen said the club was “buzzing” when she scooped her winnings, and said the amount of money is life changing.
She added: “I love coming to bingo, and Club 3000 at Coatbridge is always a fantastic experience.
“The atmosphere was amazing, and I couldn’t believe it when I won.
“The staff were wonderful, and the whole club was buzzing with excitement.
“I’m still in shock and haven’t decided how to spend the money yet, but it’s an incredible amount that will change my life.”
Louise Connelly, a manager on duty said: “It was a magical night. The atmosphere was electric, and we were overjoyed for Maureen.
“The moment she called for the full house, the entire club erupted with cheers.
“The joy from both staff and customers was overwhelming. We’re like a big family here, and we love providing opportunities for our bingo community to win big.
“Club 3000 Bingo is the place to be to win big money.”
Previously, one bingo player scooped a huge £1.2 million in winnings at Coatbridge during the National Bingo Game back in 2008.
The club is now getting ready to celebrate and present Maureen with her winnings.
