State Department and Notre Dame Host Academic Centers of Conflict Anticipation and Prevention Conference – United States Department of State
On November 18 and 19, the State Department’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations will join the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs to co-host the Academic Centers of Conflict Anticipation and Prevention (ACCAP) Conference, themed “Partnerships for Peace.” ACCAP was launched in November 2023 to expand the Department of State’s access to leading academic expertise, analysis, and research focused on the drivers of global conflict and fragility.
Over the two-day event, officials from the Department of State, Department of Defense, and USAID will provide insights in the evolving research priorities of their agencies. Attendees will also hear from students currently conducting research to support conflict and stabilization initiatives.
Department of State speakers include Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya, who will give virtual remarks, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations Anne Witkowsky, and Managing Director of Academic Programs for the Education and Cultural Affairs Bureau Marianne Craven. The University of Notre Dame will be represented by Dean of the Keough School of Global Affairs Mary Gallagher, Associate Dean for Policy and Practice Andres Mejia Acosta, and Keough School Washington Office Executive Director Maura Policelli.
