The glaring ‘problem’ with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Polo show

One royal expert has pointed out a problem with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show that could’ve been fixed.

Polo – which was produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and was released earlier this week – explores the elite world of the sport that Harry has played for many years.

As their fourth project to have been released via their multi-million-pound deal with Netflix, the couple made very few appearances in the first and final two episodes.

Speaking of the series, Royal expert Phil Dampier told The Sun that Meghan and Harry’s very few appearances in the new series is a “problem” for Netflix, as the streaming platform isn’t getting “much bang for their buck”.

He told the publication: “The main problem for Netflix is that Harry and Meghan are hardly in this program… I think for the amount of money they’re paying them reputed to be upwards of 80 to 100 million dollars.

“I don’t think they’re getting a great deal of Harry and Meghan… not getting much bang for their buck. I’m not quite sure why Netflix have done this.”

He also said the topic of the sport – which many “can’t afford” – is also a problem for the streaming service – as well as for the couple, who are said to have hoped it would “grow the audience of polo”.

He said: “The average person can’t afford a polo mallet or stick let alone a horse or a horse box. I don’t think it’s going to attract many new players.”

Prior to the release of Polo, Harry and Meghan have released three titles as part of their Netflix deal. They have released Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and their self-titled documentary series that explored their love story and exit from the working Royal Family.

Released in December 2022, the couple broke viewership records for the streaming giant’s documentary offerings with their six-part series, ‘Harry and Meghan’.

Although the release date and official title remain unknown, Meghan is expected to release her own show next year. It will reportedly explore “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”.

The show will reportedly be tied into the lifestyle brand America Riviera Orchard, that Meghan launched back in March.
