An Australian vlogger was in for the surprise of her life at the Chinese hotel she was staying at when a cute service robot delivered her food at the door steps while engaging in a little conversation before scooting off for more work.

While the proliferation of service robots in the hospitality industry is nothing new, it is exploding with the rapid evolution of AI and more players in the industry that was once considered the forte of the Japanese.

In her recent reel, Josie shows the crazy experience. She received a phone call informing her about the arrival of the robot with her delivery. While she waited for the doorbell to ring, the robot called her over the room number and stated that it was right outside. She welcomed the robot with a ‘Ni Hao’ as the bot opened its container with the food. The robot had a touch screen to tap ‘close’ the container. While leaving, the vlogger said bye, to which the service robot responded, “I am working. Don’t disturb,” and scooted off with a bubbye.

Here’s how the netizens responded to the entire interaction. Some were skeptical about a future with service robots and humanoids walking amongst us, while others seemed delighted by the experience. A few remarked how this vlog illustrated machines taking over several jobs in the service sector. A handful of users cheekily remarked how polite the vlogger was with the robot, which probably they would remember when there’s an uprising. Meanwhile, some users jibed that if it were an American robot it would have asked for a tip and wouldn’t leave without receiving one.
