A 26-year-old woman employed as a corrections officer has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation after police say she formed a relationship with an incarcerated teen girl at the Manitoba youth custody facility she worked at.
The woman was arrested on Saturday after the youth facility reported her for sexual assault to police in October 2024, according to a Monday news release.
Police say the woman began a relationship with the incarcerated teen girl in February of this year and sexually assaulted her numerous times in the facility.
The woman worked as a juvenile counsellor, police say.
The 26-year-old woman was charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
She was released on conditions prohibiting access to anyone under 18 years old.
