Woman accused of killing, cooking her mother
Warning: the story below contains disturbing details.
A Kentucky woman is facing charges after police responded to a report of a dismembered body and found pieces of the woman’s mother cooking inside a pot on the stove.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to Brierly Ridge Road in Mount Olivet at around 12:26 p.m. Wednesday after a man reported observing a dismembered woman on the property. The man had been hired to perform work on the property, and allegedly observed a bloody mattress on the back porch and a dismembered body in the grass.
Police said they attempted to make contact with a woman inside the home, but got no response. Troopers obtained a search warrant for the property and activated a Special Response Team to serve the warrant.
When police returned to serve the warrant, the woman inside the house, 32-year-old Torilena May Fields, refused to respond. Police deployed gas canisters inside the home, and communicated with her using a robot before she was ultimately taken into custody at around 11 p.m.
Police found a pot with cooked human remains inside the stove in the kitchen, and it was “still warm.” Fields also allegedly had blood on her face, hands and clothing.
The deceased woman was identified as Fields’s mother, Trudy Fields. The man who initially called police reported that he had last seen Trudy on Tuesday night, together with her daughter, before he left the residence that night. He said Torilena Fields was “casting spells on them and being confrontational,” and the police report noted she may have been under the influence of drugs.
Torilena Fields was charged with abusing a corpse, evidence tampering and obstructing government operations, and police said further charges could follow.
