WWII vet, racing fan passes away at 102

VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A World War II veteran and lifelong member of the Capital Region community has passed away at the age of 102.

Sir Kenneth Bailey was born in Albany and grew up in Delmar. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 and landed on Utah Beach six days after D-Day. He also fought in a number of battles, including the Battle of the Bulge.

He worked at Orange Ford Motors for more than 40 years after returning home. He received several recognitions for his military service and also served as grand marshal for multiple Memorial Day parades.

He was a big racing fan and was honored earlier in the year during Military Appreciation Day at the Saratoga Race Course. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
