MYSURU: Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials investigating money laundering allegations against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah have discovered that the disputed Kesare land, spanning three acres and 16 guntas, still belongs to his wife, BM Parvathi.
The land, reportedly acquired by the Mysore Urban Development Authority for layout development, saw Parvathi receiving 14 prime sites in Vijayanagar as compensation.
Mysuru tahsildar KM Mahesh Kumar, who assisted ED officials in reviewing land records dating back to 1935, confirmed the ownership.
“Parvathi is still the owner of the land, and the Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops (RTC) is still in her name,” he said.
A check through the state govt’s Dishaank app, which provides official land ownership data, further validated that Parvathi’s name remains on the records.
This discrepancy could complicate ED’s investigation into Muda’s land acquisition, already under scrutiny for potential negligence and mismanagement.
RTI activists not satisfied
Some plots acquired by Muda were later sold or used as collateral, adding to the current controversy. Mysuru deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy, head of the district’s revenue department, said: “I will have to verify it and will clarify the matter.”
RTI activists, meanwhile, have criticised records that are not up to date, alleging that these are systemic issues. They claim similar discrepanci es have occurred in other cases as well.
