Who is Devin Nunes? Donald Trump appoints Truth Social CEO as intelligence board head – Times of India
US President Donald Trump has appointed Devin Nunes, the current CEO of Truth Social, to serve as the chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board. Nunes, a staunch Trump ally and former California congressman, will retain his position as CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), which operates the Truth Social platform.
The appointment, announced by Trump via a post on Truth Social, underscores Nunes’ longstanding support for the president. Nunes, who previously chaired the House Intelligence Committee during Trump’s first term in office, is known for his vocal defense of the president on several occasions.
Notably, in 2018, Nunes released a controversial memo alleging FBI misconduct during the 2016 election investigation—an action that earned both praise and criticism.
In his announcement, Trump praised Nunes’ experience, particularly his role in investigating the “Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax,” referring to the claims of Russian interference in the 2016 election. “Devin will draw on his experience as former Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to provide me with independent assessments of the effectiveness and propriety of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s activities,” Trump wrote.
The President’s Intelligence Advisory Board (PIAB) is an independent body within the executive office that provides the president with advice on the effectiveness of US intelligence operations. The board’s members are drawn from outside the federal government, allowing them to offer unbiased insights on intelligence matters.
Nunes’ appointment is the latest move by Trump to integrate allies from his media company into key government roles. Alongside Nunes, other figures associated with Trump Media and Technology Group, such as Linda McMahon and Kash Patel, have been named to significant positions within the administration.
The announcement of Nunes’ new role reflects Trump’s ongoing efforts to shape his administration ahead of his upcoming term. The addition of Nunes to the Intelligence Advisory Board highlights the continued intersection of Trump’s media interests and his governance strategy.
